really pro

The beginning is so funky, got me dancing right away lol :] Definitely sounds like something you'd hear in a club. I was really surprised when it dropped out at :32, I thought it totally killed the mood that was building up and it dropped out without a clue that it was coming. I would expect a much much longer more epic buldup, for several minutes perhaps, but i understand that this is a WIP. I really liked the ambient buildup, again I think it would work really really great several minutes into the track. I really loved all the high resonance during the buildup, and the pitch bending is driving me NUTS. I was really surprised at how well this works as a loop too. Your mixing sounds pro, definitely some of the best production quality I've heard on Newgrounds. I really think this could get you signed if you're not already, but it needs a bit more... please keep working on it!

5/5, 10/10, Added you to favorite artists, sorry for the tl;dr :P

DukeLukeProd responds:

nah, there's no tl;dr for me, sorry for the late answer though. I'm glad you like my main groove, I've tried to take the bassline to something more Daft Punk (like making the distortion synth sound like it's a vocal-effect), not sure if that's going anywhere ^^ Although I do club tracks I'm not very good at club pacing (making climatic transitions and stuff), so it's of great help if people point such things out. And yeah, I like those pitch games too. I really didn't do anything like that before I knew Deadmau5 (=GOD).
Thanks man, that was very helpful!

damn... O_o

The mixing sounds SO pro
LOVE the kick
The snare is so punchy, you got the sound PERFECT
Cymbals sound a little flat for my taste, could've used more highs but w/e, I guess the only thing I think could be improved about this track
Your guitar tone = SEX How did you get it to sound so full? O_o
Bass tone: best ever

Your songwriting is very impressive. Especially the drums.

deathkllr84 responds:

Hey thanks man! I agree, the snare was the best tone I've gotten. I don't like cymbals to be too high, hurts the ears. But I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks again! I use a digitech RP250 for an audio interface, and made my own tone. I'm not sure how it's EQ'd, I just messed around. And yeah, that bass is crunchy lol.

woot, I appreciate the review. \m/

HOLY SHIT

This is really damn good... I love vocal trance. Lira is incredibly talented, and this is so well produced... I forgot I was listening to a song on Newgrounds when I went away from the page, I seriously thought I was listening to something on my iTunes :] This song should've taken the top spot for best of the week, not mine XD

Kazmo responds:

That's awesome, the fact that you forgot you were listening to something off Newgrounds. :]

Don't say such things, you deserve the top spot. :D

Thanks for the review!!!

freaking awesome

I love this piece, it flows really well and has a great mood. Your composition skills are genius :0 I love when the synths come in and the beat in this is great... sounds really pro. My only complaint is the beginning sounds a bit loud to me because you compressed the piano kinda hard (though this works great for 90% of the song, I just think maybe a little fade in would've been good) Oh well just being picky, I do that :P

mjattie responds:

I like some critism, to get better, I'm glad you typed this (although it's not really insulting). I could edit this :) But I don't feel like XD (I'm a bit lazy to open the large file and edit the small fading and then to export and convert and upload so...)

Beautiful

This song is amazing and it fits my mood perfectly right now... I have it looping :P The chords, the melodies, its so sorrowful but yet somehow it makes me happy :) Thanks for making my day a bit better.

X3 lol

This is so goofy, made me smile. The static is a really nice touch, is that the Izotope Vinyl vst by any chance?

Also now I really want to watch some Buster Keaton or something :D good times...

sorohanro responds:

Can't get any goofier :)))
Didn't use Izotope Vinyl, I don't have it, instead i mixed some crackles sound (from Soundsnap) and eq-ed (cut bass and high, let only mid's).
Thanx for review.

Kind of repetitive

I thought your mixing was pretty good, drums could've been a bit more present though. (After listening to the original, I notice they're pretty much like that too though) Overall, I think the song has a pretty good structure and progresses well except for the fact that its the same melodies repeating through the whole thing. I listened to the original and I think yours sounds really similar. A bit too similar, it sounds like an instrumental cover more than a remix. I think with a remix you should go in a different direction and add your own unique touch on it.

Dj-Felix responds:

Thats what i was thinking when i was making it, but unfortunately the ideas i tried didnt seem to work too well so i used a more cover'ish idea, cus i quite like the original and wanted my track to sound good. Next time i make a remix ill work on making it more original to my style and keep it away from the songs style. ty for the review man ^^

nice feel

the only thing I didn't really like was the piano at the beginning. It's pretty loud and it's panned to the right with nothing on the left to really balance it out. Also it's very repetitive and gets annoying quite quickly with headphones. For me it's really distracting from the ambient side of the song, which is great. I think maybe if the piano was centered and softer it might work better. I like how stuff pans around and remains dynamic in this song, I think you should definitely keep that soft feel, it's great. The percussion I also really like and I think the bass is at a good volume too.

wyldfyre1 responds:

Many thanks for the feed back!

Excellent

I think everything flows together really nicely and the composition is great. I don't hear a single note I don't like and it doesn't get tiring even though it's long. I like the layering and the delays you put on this, but I think that makes it a tiny bit messy in places. I really get the sense that two pianos are playing though. I think that to make it even better you could've put a bit more dynamic into it, more quiet notes and really strong accents in places.

SolusLunes responds:

I suppose I could, but more dynamics, especially making it louder, would detract from it, in my opinion.

Glad you liked it though :D

Great start

I really like the intro to this, it has a great airy feel and I think it fits the theme of the contest pretty well. I think it's a really captivating intro, I especially liked the build from :41-:58 I thought that was excellent. I think when the beat comes in it's a really great melody, but I think you could've added the piano in again to make it more exiting (unless it's just really buried in the mix, I think i hear it but I'm not to sure) I'd also say you should probably make your highs a bit crisper and/or louder, they're kind of hard to hear and get drowned out in the mix. I'd like to hear a longer version, it's a bit dissapointing how it ends so suddenly :(

Hey if you get a chance could you drop me a review on my song Auroral [Preview]? Thanks.

Nintechno responds:

Will do, great review! Thanks!

I wish I was European so I could make better electronica :C
