This is amazing, it's really a haunting song. The beginning sounds a bit lonely and I love how you faded in some strings into the background. It did sound a bit slow at first but it all works together once you listen to the whole thing. I love how the song picks up and the short pause between :53 and :55 It starts to get more interesting here, the melody is just beautiful. I love at 1:23 where it picks up speed, this is where it starts to get amazing. I love chords at 1:30-1:32- pure joy. And then they move up an octave. At 1:52 this part almost makes me cry, first time I could tell what the next two chords would be, this is GREAT tension here. I saw how much time was left in the playhead and I was bracing myself for one of those HUGE piano endings where you go all over the keyboard but I have to admit the end was a bit dissapointing and sounded a bit sour. I think if you just fixed that it would be perfect. Well one thing that bothered me about it was how you played the right hand and then the left hand, which I think kind of works away from the direction you were going. If you did it the other way with the high notes last it would've been better and fit the theme more. Either way this is an amazing song, and you are a great composer.

Thanks alot gregaaron :)
I loved reading your review.
Thanks for the compliments - and as for the end, I myself discovered those chords and absolutely loved them. But I didn't want to overdo them - just keep it beautiful and subtle.
Tamadrum liked them - but I see exactly what you mean.
I will probably update it and change the ending for you :p
thanks again

It's a pretty good melody and repeats well throughout the song, especially with the chord changes at :14. I feel it could've used a bit more variation towards the end, especially from :43 onward to distinguish it from the beginning. I agree with the people that said that the low notes overpower the mix. But I think that also your high notes could use some more compression and velocity, and an EQ boost in the high end and a cut on the low end would've helped too.

It's not bad, very repetitive though, but the volume is the main problem here. Your kick is getting very very distorted and muddy and this track is clipping all over the place. Your audio is being very badly damaged because of the volume you exported it at. If you don't know what clipping is, you should really check out this youtube video about the so called "loudness war". (and its wikipedia page as well) Since I'm not allowed to post html, just search in youtube "loudness war" and click on the first result. I don't mean to be harsh here but this is a major problem and proper mixing is essential if you ever want to progress with your music. (and this is the MOST important thing of all to know about mixing!) All you need to do is turn the volume down on the main channel to a reasonable level and re-export and it should be pretty much fixed.
Author's Response:
Yeah I went back a little while ago and realized that I had the delay on the master channel, so that along with the bass boost is what is giving it that distorted sound. The volume being on max didn't help either, heh, rookie mistake(This was my first song I ever made XD)! I'm probably going to take this down, condense it to deal with some of the repetitiveness and clear up the sound before I resubmit.

The beginning is so funky, got me dancing right away lol :] Definitely sounds like something you'd hear in a club. I was really surprised when it dropped out at :32, I thought it totally killed the mood that was building up and it dropped out without a clue that it was coming. I would expect a much much longer more epic buldup, for several minutes perhaps, but i understand that this is a WIP. I really liked the ambient buildup, again I think it would work really really great several minutes into the track. I really loved all the high resonance during the buildup, and the pitch bending is driving me NUTS. I was really surprised at how well this works as a loop too. Your mixing sounds pro, definitely some of the best production quality I've heard on Newgrounds. I really think this could get you signed if you're not already, but it needs a bit more... please keep working on it!
5/5, 10/10, Added you to favorite artists, sorry for the tl;dr :P
Author's Response:
nah, there's no tl;dr for me, sorry for the late answer though. I'm glad you like my main groove, I've tried to take the bassline to something more Daft Punk (like making the distortion synth sound like it's a vocal-effect), not sure if that's going anywhere ^^ Although I do club tracks I'm not very good at club pacing (making climatic transitions and stuff), so it's of great help if people point such things out. And yeah, I like those pitch games too. I really didn't do anything like that before I knew Deadmau5 (=GOD).
Thanks man, that was very helpful!

The mixing sounds SO pro
LOVE the kick
The snare is so punchy, you got the sound PERFECT
Cymbals sound a little flat for my taste, could've used more highs but w/e, I guess the only thing I think could be improved about this track
Your guitar tone = SEX How did you get it to sound so full? O_o
Bass tone: best ever
Your songwriting is very impressive. Especially the drums.
Author's Response:
Hey thanks man! I agree, the snare was the best tone I've gotten. I don't like cymbals to be too high, hurts the ears. But I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks again! I use a digitech RP250 for an audio interface, and made my own tone. I'm not sure how it's EQ'd, I just messed around. And yeah, that bass is crunchy lol.
woot, I appreciate the review. \m/

This is really damn good... I love vocal trance. Lira is incredibly talented, and this is so well produced... I forgot I was listening to a song on Newgrounds when I went away from the page, I seriously thought I was listening to something on my iTunes :] This song should've taken the top spot for best of the week, not mine XD
Author's Response:
That's awesome, the fact that you forgot you were listening to something off Newgrounds. :]
Don't say such things, you deserve the top spot. :D
Thanks for the review!!!

I love this piece, it flows really well and has a great mood. Your composition skills are genius :0 I love when the synths come in and the beat in this is great... sounds really pro. My only complaint is the beginning sounds a bit loud to me because you compressed the piano kinda hard (though this works great for 90% of the song, I just think maybe a little fade in would've been good) Oh well just being picky, I do that :P

I like some critism, to get better, I'm glad you typed this (although it's not really insulting). I could edit this :) But I don't feel like XD (I'm a bit lazy to open the large file and edit the small fading and then to export and convert and upload so...)

This is so goofy, made me smile. The static is a really nice touch, is that the Izotope Vinyl vst by any chance?
Also now I really want to watch some Buster Keaton or something :D good times...
Author's Response:
Can't get any goofier :)))
Didn't use Izotope Vinyl, I don't have it, instead i mixed some crackles sound (from Soundsnap) and eq-ed (cut bass and high, let only mid's).
Thanx for review.

I thought your mixing was pretty good, drums could've been a bit more present though. (After listening to the original, I notice they're pretty much like that too though) Overall, I think the song has a pretty good structure and progresses well except for the fact that its the same melodies repeating through the whole thing. I listened to the original and I think yours sounds really similar. A bit too similar, it sounds like an instrumental cover more than a remix. I think with a remix you should go in a different direction and add your own unique touch on it.
Author's Response:
Thats what i was thinking when i was making it, but unfortunately the ideas i tried didnt seem to work too well so i used a more cover'ish idea, cus i quite like the original and wanted my track to sound good. Next time i make a remix ill work on making it more original to my style and keep it away from the songs style. ty for the review man ^^
