"A bit confusing..."

date: July 12, 2008

I didn't really like the high synths at first, but it took a second listen for them to grow on me a bit. It's a little bit faster than I normally like with dance music, but it has a ton of energy... listening to it for a third time now and really feeling the beat. I didn't really like the tempo increase because I thought it was already pushing it. But I thought the part at the end was really good, and I preferred it to the rest of the song but just because of my taste of music. But the faster part IS a lot more creative and interesting. It just kind of feels like you tried to put two songs in one and I would've liked if you'd resolved the end the same way you did the beginning, kind of left me thinking 'huh?' after it ended. Hope that was a helpful review.

Sorry it's not really my thing, but you get
5/5, 9/10 for effort, quality, and creativity.

Paradise on E (Karco Remix)

"Amazing mood"

date: July 11, 2008

I'm loving the heavy beat, kind of unexpected for this type of trance. The reverse kicks are a really nice touch. This song has a deep rich atmosphere and has so many complex changes that it doesn't even feel like 10 minutes. I think you could've given the lead a different sound than the original though, or made it softer; it kind of stands out too much and we've all heard it 50 billion times :P Overall one of the most original remixes I've ever heard. I admire your creativity.

May I ask:
How many tracks does this have?
How long did you spend on it?

July 12, 2008

Author's Response:

Glad you like it! :D The lead seems to be a point of debate among the critics (not reviewers :P) of this song, some like it, some don't - I personally thought it was fine considering the original used a similar lead and that I was aiming for some kind of recognizability while keeping the rest of the song completely new.

- Well, if by tracks you mean drums, synths, and instruments, then it's around 26 or 27.
- About a month. ;)

Thanks for the review!

Your cousin has an amazing voice. I really loved her singing :) Though the rest of the song was really good, it didn't really blow me away. If you used those same vocals in a deep trance song... omgsdfsdffsd instafav! Pleeeaase make a trance mix of this :D It just doesn't have the right energy now... to quiet I guess. It has the potential to be really moving...

July 10, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks, it's a shame cus I didn't save the project I only exported it in to an Mp3 once me and her had finished with it...

I still have her vocals saved though so I think I may have to make a melodic trance remix of it

Thanks for the review :)

"This has some really great stuff in it!"

date: July 6, 2008

Unfortunately, like you said it didn't really go anywhere. The piano: creates an amazing mood... just great. The beat is great, I love the complexity and the glitching. It was kind of offputting how the beat just kind of started and stopped through the song. I would've liked to see it continue through the song as you added more elements and layering. Overall this is a really good start, it's really creative; don't abandon this!

Would you mind checking out my latest song "Windstorm" if you have 5 minutes to spare?

Author's Response:

I reviewed yours as well thank you for the review man.

Yeah , i was trying to add more layers, but then it started not sounding right. When i make songs i never really know how they are going to sound. I just know how they are going to start, and from the start i thought it was going to be good. But sometimes my songs dissapoint me.

thank you again for the review friend.

"Why did you stop?"

date: July 6, 2008

Overall it's a pretty nice start. I like the atmospheric vibe. But the buildup to the beat at the end of the song is kind of awkward. I like the spot at :43, you were really setting up a mood and I liked where it was going. But at :56 it gets kind of strange when you add the kick... maybe it's just the offbeats. I think you should've waited a few measures more or something. I would recommend just doing a single kick on the Ab (had to go check with a piano) right at :55 like you did previously in the song. And I like the snare build up before the bass comes in, but I think you should make that a LOT louder and have it crescendo right up to the beat at 1:09. I think the kicks you have before that are distracting because they're offbeat and kind of offset the mood. The last 5 are cool though. And once the beat starts, man... I think that's really good. And I absolutely love the buildup at the very end. I would put a quiet section there for like 4 measures or so, and then bring back another loud and pulsing part. I would then get up and dance. You need to finish this! I liked where it was going.

Would you mind reviewing my latest song "Windstorm"? I don't usually get this specific in my reviews.

Then it kind of seemed like you lost where you were going. If you kept repeating that theme, and started the bassline/beat at :10 or so, I think it could make a pretty cool song.
Do something with it! :D

Heh, too bad something happened with my FL6. Somehow, it reverted back to the demo version, and I can't fix it, So, I can't save, so... This is as good as it's gonna get with this tune ):

Reminds me of a lot of things. What are your influences? Though it's kind of unusual, I like it. Good use of vocal harmonies in this song. My only complaint is that it doesn't really have a beat or much bass. Sure it has lots of percussion, but it's barely audible. It needs a strong kick or maybe some bongos :)

"Not bad"

date: July 6, 2008

Good beats in this one. The flow could've been a bit better and I would recommend taking off the first four measures because it's exactly the same as the end, and it kind of messes up the looping. It's not bad if you jump right into it so don't worry about it lacking buildup, it would still have that.

"LOL @ the title"

date: July 5, 2008

You have some interesting ideas, but there's really no order to this song... Music is divided into groups, usually 8 or 16 measures with electronica, 4 or 8 with rock or more mainstream music. You can't just change things every few measures and expect it to sound good. You have to layer the different parts of your music too, so they all don't just cut off and switch to something else. And the beat is the most important part of the song! It doesn't work if you completely change it every few measures. This song just doesn't have any structure to it. Sorry if I'm being a bit harsh, don't flame me it's called constructive criticism.

July 5, 2008

Author's Response:

Um, yes. I know what criticism is. I'm an animtor.

But thanks for the comment. It wasn't really a beat, it's an intro then 2 drummers (basically) doing some sorta dueling banjo's thing, while the bass is playing. But yeah I admit this sin't very good, and I suck at music. But I want to improve.

submission: Poseidons call

Pretty impressive... might I ask what program? The mixing's not bad, I like the pad that oscillates from the left to right. But the EQ... isn't too great. More on that later. Overall I think it's really lacking a constant theme, it kind of feels like it went all over the place. And it feels kind of empty, definitely needs a lot more bass. And definitely more volume overall. The kick is nice and heavy, but the bass I do hear is very low in volume. It needs a much stronger tone in the low range notes, you know what I mean?

Also, this is not trance, I'd say it's more like Industrial.
All that said... much better than my first lol.

July 5, 2008

Author's Response:

Hehe :) I know that it needs a little more bass and such. I'm working on it. I aint using the big advanced programs.. I use Ejay Virtual Music Studio. It's not the best but it's easy and I like it :) Thanks for the review.
