Very creative

Reminds me of a lot of things. What are your influences? Though it's kind of unusual, I like it. Good use of vocal harmonies in this song. My only complaint is that it doesn't really have a beat or much bass. Sure it has lots of percussion, but it's barely audible. It needs a strong kick or maybe some bongos :)

Would you mind checking out my latest song 'Windstorm' in return for this review?

TheMaskedJew responds:

Yeah, I understand what you mean. It's too late I realize that the treble on my amp was turned all the way up.

Not bad

Good beats in this one. The flow could've been a bit better and I would recommend taking off the first four measures because it's exactly the same as the end, and it kind of messes up the looping. It's not bad if you jump right into it so don't worry about it lacking buildup, it would still have that.

Damn, your first?

Pretty impressive... might I ask what program? The mixing's not bad, I like the pad that oscillates from the left to right. But the EQ... isn't too great. More on that later. Overall I think it's really lacking a constant theme, it kind of feels like it went all over the place. And it feels kind of empty, definitely needs a lot more bass. And definitely more volume overall. The kick is nice and heavy, but the bass I do hear is very low in volume. It needs a much stronger tone in the low range notes, you know what I mean?

Also, this is not trance, I'd say it's more like Industrial.
All that said... much better than my first lol.

gamecubebible responds:

Hehe :) I know that it needs a little more bass and such. I'm working on it. I aint using the big advanced programs.. I use Ejay Virtual Music Studio. It's not the best but it's easy and I like it :) Thanks for the review.

Great Flow!

This song has so much packed into it, the complexity is mind blowing. I love the transitions, they're done perfectly. The atmosphere is just amazing, it's like I can almost see the music. The two best parts are at 1:02 and at 1:57. I showed this to my brother and he went "whoa..." when the melody kicked in at 1:02, and he doesn't like electronica at all. The piano part with the cheering literally gives me goosebumps every time :D Love it!

Could be great

But it has some issues...

First the good:

I love the main synth part. It's very energetic and it's very dynamic in range. (That's two different tracks right?) You used good roots in the chord. Well good job on making the high notes louder, harder, and giving them more of an echo. Makes them stand out.

You have a good rhythm going on, and and I like the glitching towards the end. That is well done. Has sort of an industrial feel.

I've been keeping this looping, it's addicting (a bit harsh through headphones though) Makes me feel happy :)

The bad:

I like the gameboy-ish synth that starts at :45. The notes are kind of flat though. That's fine, but when you include the main synths into the melody at :49 it creates a lot of dissonance. Those notes are not flat, and if anything, sharp. Sorry, but :49 - 1:11 is sort of a mess :/ Also, you need to make sure the notes you're using are in the right key (not sure if they are) It would have been pretty good if you'd just left the main synth out at that section; It would have been a little empty though, which brings me to my next point. The mixing needs a lot of work. I've noticed with your songs that there's hardly any bass or drums at all. It really needs a force to drive this song, and I think it would be possible to remix this into a badass drum and bass song :P There's a bit too much empty space between the notes, you have one pad (i think), but I would use one or two more. Also you should make this stereo, instead of everything being balanced between the two speakers.

Wow, it looks like I hated it by the amount I wrote under "bad" compared to the amount I wrote under "good". But I'm just better at making constructive criticism than praise, makes some people think I'm rude lol. But I really did like it. I gave you an 8 because I think it has a lot of originality. And I think you have the potential, you just don't put enough time and effort into it. (You really should! have more patience!) >:C I think you had a good idea here... Could I try remixing this sometime? (not a promise that I will though)

Rad responds:

Well your definitely right about my lack of bass and drums in most of my songs. I need to be sure to cover that in my next song. And about 49 to 1:11 being a mess... you mean like I'm having too many channels on at once or they're not working together? I found that one really useful, and I'd love it if you could clarify later in PM or MSN or something.

Split up sound between speakers...Check. Doing that next time around.

Yeah I have one pad in there, but more? Alright. I think I can see what you mean with it.

I think this was my best review of the three so far, (Sorry Donkey and Barry! love you guys.)

Lets chat sometime about music and such kay?

Absolutely love it.

I heard this in Drift and I pretty much only played this track instead of the other one. I think kbaum was really smart for picking this, it sounds very aquatic :3 Perfect fish music XD I like how it's sort of a fusion of genres.

This needs to be an hour, not 10 minutes XD

I love this song, when I listen to it I really space out and totally loose track of time, the song flows so smoothly and never gets boring. It's so relaxing :)

Nice rythm

I like the complexity of the rythm here... it sounds pretty random but it makes sense. I don't really the pause at :14 though... it bugs me and sorta messes up the flow. You should make it longer, I'd like to hear it with more melody too.

Amazing.

This song is pure win. I vote 5 on it every day.

Very Nice

Overall, the piece was very good, especially considering your age. It was a tiny bit iritating though. I may be the only one to notice this, but your rythm is a little bit off. It's only slightly noticable at the beginning with the high notes. I think that there should be more of a variety with the drums also. Also, you should make a looped version without the fadeout.

I wish I was European so I could make better electronica :C
